Springing back to work. This week I started coding up the [STELLAR] element mods, so right now their transformation effects are correctly set in the body data, but they don't yet have their description lines set. I also started doing the writing for one of the sidequest things I outlined, so I have a few new scenes for the machine shop written, a few others outlined, and a chunk of the quest itself written. That'll actually be the first bit of pregnancy/impreg content in the game when it's done, so I'm pretty enthused about that.
Also this week I started on changing some of the event code around, so that each location has a unique ID. This makes internal event/quest data storage a little easier to manage, and makes it easier for different events to talk to each other and share data -- so for example, making repeating NPCs showing up in multiple locations. This also lets events add objective markers on the map, which as you can imagine would be pretty useful for, you know, having quests.
One of the things I've been really wanting to add has been, you know, literally any kind of progression content, so basically all the quests have some aspect of... going somewhere, doing some things, getting a reward, and then critically being able to return to a location that's changed in some way. So hopefully I'll be able to finish a few of these quests before I finish all the updated body stuff, so I can (finally) show some of that off.
In the mean time: getting the other elements working; getting the new animal nodes added (and adding in full support for feathers); basically all the stuff mentioned in last week's TODO, which is still applicable now. All I've really done with that list so far is add to it, but hopefully next week I'll be able to fully finish some of those things and cross them off.
Hello, xx!
I have to ask: are you dead set on making a chicken node? Would you consider making a generalised "bird" node? Chicken just doesn't... feel hellish at all.
Maybe you can get a bird node and then, if you add black, it becomes raven, or if white, dove, or chicken with beige? I don't know, just an idea.
How will Iсhor>infested work? Can you briefly describe who will inhabit our body? o.o
@Nox
originally i did have "bird", but then i realized that it (along with "fish") was the only planned animal node that wasn't... a specific animal. so i broke it down into dove and crow and some other stuff, and then i was like "...i don't actually want to add x different kind of birds that would have no practical difference between them", so i crossed all those out and just went with chicken. i guess chicken specifically because of vague ideas about medival heraldry and beasts, cockatrice, basilisk, that kind of thing. vague memories of demons with the heads of roosters, that kind of thing.
that being said, one of the planned features is for hornless unicorns to be called 'horses' instead of, uh, 'hornless unicorns', and for them to be called 'zebras' if you have stripes. ditto with snakes with legs, to be called "reptiles". so making the animal tags more of a general thing, instead of actually meaning specifically the species that it says. so once [CHICKEN] goes in, and also coloration goes in, there might be a similar thing with birds, so you get a bunch of different nouns depending on your color. but basically i just don't want to add in a bunch of nearly-identical nodes.
@Panre
zombie parasite larva or something equivalent to that. basically weird fat grublike worms. at the current moment, the deal will be: you'll be able to buy/trade/otherwise obtain [ICHOR] from zombies (i think you already can? there's that zombie cook.). then, there'll in the sex scene with a zombie hierophant, there'll be an infestation option if you have [ICHOR] on in the right places, which will transmute that node into the infested version.
It sounds creepy but it's hot at the same time. Gimme two!
Is it worth waiting for an update this week? Or the next? Or is it hopeless ...
